TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Deputy Legislative Speaker Chiang Chi-chen (江啟臣) arrived in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday to meet with state officials on trade.
Chiang met with Senator Brent Hagenbuch, Representative Cindy Chen, Plano Mayor John Muns, and Richardson Mayor Amir Omar, CNA reported. In a speech, he highlighted thriving Taiwan–Texas economic and trade ties. In 2024, bilateral trade reached US$25.8 billion (NT$826 billion), and Taiwanese investment in Texas surpassed US$14.1 billion, he said.
Chiang praised Texas’ favorable investment environment and welcomed the establishment of the Texas Taiwan Office last July and the launch of direct Dallas–Taoyuan flights in October, saying both developments reflect increasingly close exchanges between Taiwan and Texas. He also exchanged views with US counterparts on political systems and industrial development.
State and local governments in Texas are working to create a more favorable investment environment and encouraging more Taiwanese businesses to invest, according to the Legislative Yuan.
Chiang visited the Dallas Taiwan Trade and Investment Center, which was established in August. He later toured Wistron’s Texas office to learn about the company’s US strategy, current investments, staffing, and shift systems.
Chiang also inspected Taiwanese electronics supplier Sysgration’s Texas facility to understand its automated production lines, collaboration with US clients, business prospects, and how it implements the “Designed in Taiwan, made in the USA” model.
