TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan International Travel Fair took place on Friday at the International Convention Center Tainan with 190 booths offering travel packages and special deals.
Tainan City Government said the fair will run until Monday. It also pointed out the fair has reached its 14th year and has drawn many cities from around the world.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) noted that leaders and delegates from these countries would visit Tainan during the fair and meet local officials to strengthen cooperation. City officials also said the event brings together Taiwan's tourism groups and government agencies.
CNA reported that this year's fair pulls in exhibitors from Japan, the Philippines, the Czech Republic, the UK, and the US. It noted that Japan’s pavilion alone packs in 14 prefectures and several tourism groups to show off travel deals.
Tainan's tourism bureau said the Tainan booth rolled out free tea eggs and other giveaways that quickly drew long lines. The four-day fair will also set up games, stage shows, and daily raffles for food souvenirs and travel goods.
Last year's Tainan International Travel Fair drew more than 200 booths and featured delegations from Japan, the Philippines, China, the US, Indonesia, and Denmark. City officials said the event showed Tainan’s growth as a major tourism hub, per Travel Tainan.
