TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (盧秀燕) on Friday ordered an influencer’s school livestream removed on the grounds of student privacy, CNA reported.
On Wednesday, the influencer Chiang Chien-hua (江建樺), known as “Binbin,” went live without approval at Taichung's Chung Shan Junior High School. The school later accused the influencer of twisting a teacher’s messages and claiming the school had given him the green light, per UDN.
The school had invited magician Wang Yuan-chao (王元照) to give a talk, and Wang brought Chiang as a surprise guest. Officials said both men broke the law by streaming kids without consent.
Taichung City fined Wang NT$100,000 (US$3,100) and Chiang NT$130,000 (US$4,030). Lin Gu-long (林谷隆), head of Taichung’s digital affairs bureau, pointed out the remarks during the livestream also broke regulations.
Lin added the city has filed complaints with the Institute of Watch Internet Network, Taiwan Network Information Center, and several platforms. He said Tiktok has removed three clips, Threads, three clips, and Youtube, one long video.
Police are tracking down reposted videos. Some edited clips remain online because users added stronger pixellation, which meets platform rules while still protecting children’s privacy.
