TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) said Tuesday at a press conference that the city will put on three concerts and three parent-child events to celebrate Christmas and the New Year.
According to the Tainan City Government, the events will run for six consecutive weeks starting Nov. 29. Huang said the celebrations have grown into a well-known local brand over the years.
The mayor said the shows have become more varied and crowded even though the budget is not the biggest in Taiwan. He added that the events will run all the way to New Year’s Eve and invited people to drop by Yonghua Civic Center after work for the year-end countdown.
As for parent-child events, the city said they will take place at Southern Taiwan Science Park, Jiali Sports Park, and TS Mall Shidai Park. Theater groups like Bean Theatre, Apple Theater, and If Kids Theatre will put on shows and set up simple games so families can hang out and have fun.
Huang called on people to watch out for online scams after spotting fake job recruitment ads for the events using last year’s posters. He said any message asking people to add a Line account or “verify payment” to buy concert tickets is a scam and should be reported.
The city reminded the public that official information will only appear on the government website and official pages. It said the city will keep pushing anti-fraud messages so people stay alert and avoid falling for fake posts.
