TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taiwan Association for South Asian Studies and India’s Centre for China Analysis and Strategy signed an MOU on Sunday to deepen academic cooperation.
The signing ceremony was held at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in New Delhi, per CNA. TASEAS Chair Tang Wei-min (唐維敏) said both sides hope for more cooperation in academic exchanges and joint research projects across various fields, as well as more personnel exchanges in the future.
CCAS Director Jayadeva Ranade said the agreement marks a major step forward, helping both countries understand each other better and address issues that arise in bilateral relations. TASEAS and CCAS can discuss these matters and try to work with their respective governments and related agencies to resolve them, he said.
Ranade added that another equally important aspect is understanding China. Beijing’s policies toward India, Taiwan, and other countries are always aggressive, he said, hoping the hostilities would end.
Ranade said exchanging views and assessments on China will help Taiwan and India respond more effectively to the actions of the Chinese leadership and push them to adjust their policies to be less aggressive and more pragmatic and inclusive.
