TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Coast Guard Administration discovered 200 bags of pesticides from China in Kinmen, reports said Saturday.
After Taiwan announced an outbreak of African swine fever in Taichung last month, the authorities intensified inspections of products imported from China. On Friday they discovered tau-fluvalinate strips used to destroy mites in beehives.
The batch of 200 packages weighed about 13 kilograms, per CNA. The pesticides were about to be shipped from the port of Liaoluo in Kinmen to Taiwan’s main island.
The Coast Guard called on the public not to import unlicensed chemical and agricultural products from China. The Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu branch of the administration said it would continue to conduct thorough checks of ships arriving from China and their cargo.
