TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Northeast Taiwan experienced a magnitude 4.5 earthquake at 9:22 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Central Weather Administration.
The epicenter was located 10.6 kilometers west of Yilan County Hall at a depth of 50.1 kilometers, the CWA said.
Taiwan uses a scale of 1 to 7 to measure a quake's intensity at a specific location. The quake registered a 3 in Yilan County and New Taipei.
A level 2 was reported in Taipei, Taoyuan, and Hsinchu County. An intensity level of 1 was measured in Keelung, Hualien County, Miaoli County, Taichung, and Nantou County.
