TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — ChipMOS Chair Cheng Shih-chieh (鄭世杰) expects the global memory boom to continue through next year as DRAM and AI-related demand fuel growth in Q4.
Cheng said at a Tuesday investor conference that demand for high-bandwidth memory, DDR4, DDR5, NAND, and NOR flash is expected to stay robust through 2026, per CNA. He said ChipMOS will expand capacity under long-term customer contracts with adjusted pricing.
Cheng noted that while end-market demand remains cautious, AI data-center expansion continues to drive strong enterprise NAND and DRAM orders. Growth in edge AI and cost-efficient AI systems is also helping sustain momentum in the memory sector.
He said clients are replenishing inventory and overall demand is improving, with memory growth outpacing display driver integrated circuits. DRAM sales have shown notable strength, while flash memory has slightly weakened.
ChipMOS is also expanding its mixed-signal chip and AI ASIC portfolio to support long-term growth. The company is developing power-management chips for DDR5 modules and logic chips for smart healthcare devices.
ChipMOS reported consolidated revenue of NT$6.14 billion (US$197 million) in Q3, up 7.1% from the previous quarter, per Liberty Times. Gross margin climbed to 12.4%, while net profit reached NT$352 million, reversing a loss in Q2, with earnings per share at NT$0.5.
