TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Residents in remote parts of Pingtung, Hualien, and Taitung will have to wait to collect their NT$10,000 (US$322) cash payout due to tropical storm Fung-wong.
CNA reported Tuesday that the storm may trigger mudslides near local police stations where people were supposed to collect the payout. It added that payments would start the day after the land warning is lifted and remain open for two weeks.
The Ministry of Finance pointed out that residents must bring their ID or NHI card to their registered police station to collect the payout. It urged people to follow official updates and stay safe.
Meanwhile, deposits for those who opted for remittance began Tuesday night. The first batch covers people who registered from Nov. 5 to 10, while others will receive funds later this week.
Starting Nov. 18, the system will shift to same-day transfers to speed things up. People can check their registration results online from Thursday and reapply or withdraw at ATMs or post offices if the deposit fails.
