TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The National Immigration Agency is questioning a Chinese man who distributed unification leaflets at the Kinmen County Government building on Thursday, reports said.
The man, surnamed Lu (盧), arrived at 9 a.m. carrying the flags of Taiwan and China, per CNA. He entered the building and stood near a staircase handing out flyers advocating unification.
Immigration officials said Lu could face deportation if he is found to have violated the terms of his entry permit.
As Lu was preparing to leave, a guard and county staff stopped him and alerted police. He told them he did not mind police intervention, saying all they would do was fine him.
Officers took Lu to the Jincheng Precinct and then turned him over to immigration for questioning. He is a resident of Fujian Province who arrived in Kinmen by ferry on Wednesday. After establishing his motives, immigration officials will decide whether to deport him, reports said.
