TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Marine Corps Command conducted a live-fire exercise on Monday to strengthen littoral defense capabilities.
The exercise simulated different enemy scenarios to test command and control communications, fire coordination, target acquisition and transmission, and logistics maintenance, per Military News Agency. Six units, including the Air Defense Group, jointly carried out scenario responses. Marines used 105mm howitzers, 40mm grenade launchers, 20mm guns, and T74 machine guns.
The exercise was divided into several operational phases: routine crisis response, combat readiness deployment, joint anti-amphibious operations, and coastal and beachfront combat. Surveillance drones were integrated to support target acquisition and live-fire coordination.
The exercise also incorporated Team Awareness Kit software, which uses real-time imagery and front-line monitoring data to integrate battlefield intelligence and share operations across all units. This improved situational awareness and coordination on the battlefield, MNA said.
The exercise strengthened rapid response capabilities and enhanced commanders’ real-time decision-making, fire coordination, and joint defense integration.
Last month, the Marine Corps Amphibious Armor Group finished a 13-week training exercise in coordination with an infantry battalion. The training aimed to strengthen troops’ amphibious warfare capabilities and assess integration and combat effectiveness between the two units.
