TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan External Trade Development Council hosted its first-ever “Taiwan Night" to increase the country's visibility during the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo in the US.
CNA reported Wednesday that 204 Taiwan manufacturers participated in AAPEX. TAITRA rolled out several programs to help them connect with buyers, including “Taiwan Night” and ads featuring Taiwan’s industry placed throughout the venue to catch visitors’ eyes.
About 200 guests gathered to enjoy Taiwan folk music and food at the “Taiwan Night” event, which brought together exhibitors, trade officials, and key buyers from Taiwan and the US. The atmosphere was lively as participants mingled over a buffet dinner.
TAITRA Chair James Huang (黃志芳) said the US remains Taiwan’s largest market for car components, accounting for around 50% of exports. Huang added that the show was a chance for manufacturers to expand into both North and Latin American markets.
Deputy Economic Affairs Minister Ho Chin-Tsang (何晉滄) said Taiwan-US tariff talks are wrapping up and he expects favorable results soon. He added that Taiwan’s strengths in customized production and IT give its suppliers an edge in the fast-growing electric vehicle sector.
Shawn Harris, vice president of global procurement at auto parts corporation Stanadyne, told CNA that Taiwan offers a solid supply chain and competitive prices. He said his company was looking for more potential suppliers during the show.
The Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo, also known as AAPEX, is the largest car parts show in the US. In 2023, Taiwan was the third-largest participant at the expo, per TAITRA.
