TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan's Yuan Ze University was honored for its global engagement by Quacquarelli Symonds, a UK higher education research firm, CNA reported Wednesday.
The university was honored during the QS Higher Ed Summit in South Korea. The event also announced the “2026 QS Asia University Rankings,” naming 1,526 universities across Asia, with 57 coming from Taiwan.
Yuan Ze University ranked 236th in Asia and stood out for its strong progress in international indicators. The university's Vice President Hsu Tze Chi (徐澤志) accepted the award on behalf of the school.
Yuan Ze University said it has been focusing on becoming a “bilingual university” since 2002. The school has pushed for English-taught courses, recruited more international students, and built a campus that feels “global” in learning and atmosphere.
Yuan Ze University stated each college now offers bachelor’s programs in English. The Ministry of Education has also chosen its College of Management as a model under the Program on Bilingual Education for Students in College.
The university added that international students now make up nearly 12.9% of its student body. Over 10% of full-time faculty are foreign nationals, which is the highest among Taiwan’s comprehensive universities.
President Liao Ching-Jong (廖慶榮) said the award shows the university’s growing global reach. He added the school will keep working to expand overseas recruitment, build more partnerships, and train students with global vision.
QS, short for Quacquarelli Symonds, is a UK-based higher education organization known for its global university rankings. It evaluates schools based on academic reputation, employer reputation, research impact, among other factors.
