TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — During a visit to Europe in September, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) sent a delegation to NATO headquarters in Brussels, reports said Monday.
Lin reportedly met in Paris with Taiwanese diplomats stationed in Africa. Meanwhile, a team traveled to Belgium to brief European officials on Taiwan’s new AI and defense cooperation strategy, according to Intelligence Online.
The delegation was headed by Hsu Szu-chien (徐斯儉), a senior adviser at the National Security Council, per CNA. They visited NATO headquarters and met with officials from the European Commission.
Discussions covered semiconductors, AI, defense, and surveillance — areas of defense cooperation that would previously have been off-limits in talks between European Union member states and Taiwan.
According to Intelligence Online, Hsu emphasized economic security and democratic values, drawing a positive response from European officials.
