TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Culture Minister Li Yuan (李遠) urged Taiwan’s cultural sector to work across disciplines to bring local stories to the world at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest opening on Tuesday.
Li said Taiwan is gaining attention as the world looks to the country’s technology and creative strength. Building global alliances is the next step to help Taiwan’s artists and storytellers reach new markets, he added, per CNA.
He recalled a September meeting with Gaetan Bruel, president of France’s National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image, who called Taiwan France’s top XR partner in Asia — a sign, Li said, of Taiwan’s growing global presence.
Li also pointed to the Taiwanese film “96 Minutes,” which grossed over NT$200 million (US$6.5 million), as proof of a comeback in local cinema.
He added that the Taiwan Creative Content Agency, founded in 2019, has helped elevate cultural content to a national strategy. Events like Taiwan Creative Content Fest show how creators can team up with technology to reach global audiences, he said.
Taiwan Creative Content Fest is an annual event linking local creators with partners worldwide. First held at Nangang Exhibition Center in 2014, it showcases Taiwanese film, music, animation, and digital content to drive international collaboration.
