TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The 10-day 2025 Taoyuan Halloween “Enchanted Spider Castle” event drew over 1.08 million visitors.
The festival concluded on Sunday evening with a costume EDM party, per ETtoday. The Taoyuan tourism department said more than 220,000 visitors came on Saturday alone, setting a new single-day record.
According to Chunghwa Telecom’s big data estimates, roughly 70% of attendees were Taoyuan residents. The remaining 30% came from other cities, mainly Taipei and New Taipei.
Chen Ching-fang (陳靜芳), the tourism department’s director, said this year’s highlight was the 13-meter-tall “Enchanted Spider King” guarding the entire themed area. The main light show, featuring 250 projected lights, was the centerpiece, complemented by 12 adventure- and treasure-themed installations and nearly 30 photogenic displays that drew crowds eager to take pictures and share them online.
In addition, this year, custom-made giant illuminated puppets debuted in the nightly performance “Enchanted Spider Castle Guardians.” Performed on a set schedule, the whimsical giant characters were operated by performers dressed in skeleton costumes.
The event combined nighttime performances and parades, a costume contest, street dance EDM parties, interactive family activities, themed markets, and prize draws, attracting participants from across Taiwan.
