TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Regional alliances are expanding to bolster deterrence against China, the National Security Bureau said in a report issued Friday.
The bureau said a “democratic supply chain alliance” is steadily growing. Combined with US collaboration, it will help Taiwan align AI-driven governance strategies with its world-leading semiconductor strengths to build trusted partnerships with like-minded nations, per CNA.
The NSB said a US- and Japan-led security network is also rapidly taking shape, with the US and its allies working to “preserve peace through strength.” The network is expanding multilateral cooperation with South Korea, Australia, and the Philippines.
This includes scaling up joint exercises and improving interoperability, as well as accelerating weapons development and defense-industry collaboration, the NSB said. These efforts strengthen collective defense and help deter China from destabilizing the Indo-Pacific.
The bureau stressed that peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are directly linked to Indo-Pacific security. Countries such as Japan and Malaysia have highlighted how cross-strait stability affects regional interests.
As China attempts to change the status quo through military coercion, Taiwan is strengthening its defense and deepening strategic communication and cooperation with regional partners, the NSB said. Taiwan seeks to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific with these partners.
