TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Kaohsiung drew over 600,000 visitors to Weiwuying Park as the city’s Halloween celebration combined camping fun with its “Wild Wild Lifestyle” event, CNA reported Monday.
The city's education bureau said this year’s celebration featured a creative costume parade and a 22-meter-tall giant pumpkin that wowed visitors. The celebration also featured the outdoor market of the “Wild Wild Lifestyle” event.
The city's education commissioner Wu Li-sen (吳立森) said the Halloween celebration has become one of Kaohsiung’s most loved events for families and young people. He added it helped boost tourism and showed the city’s creative and inclusive spirit.
Kaohsiung's tourism director Kao Min-lin (高閔琳) said this year’s “Wild Wild Lifestyle” event hit a new scale, with over 130 brands joining the market. Visitors could check out 20 tents, 30 camping gear brands, and 15 camper vans, along with 60 popular food and drink vendors.
On Oct. 21, Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) said the city would deliver its biggest Halloween celebration yet, promising “a more spectacular event than before.” The city's education bureau also said schools and local communities would join in with themed booths and costume parades.
