TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan on Saturday wrapped up a 10-day art exchange exhibition with Gyeongju, South Korea, the host city of the 2025 APEC summit.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited 40 artists from Tainan and Gyeongju to participate, according to the Tainan City Government.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) said the exhibition was the first art exchange event since the two cities established sister-city relations in 2024. He thanked members of the Tainan Calligraphy Society for participating, saying their contributions made the exhibition more meaningful. He hoped the two cities would keep expanding cooperation and promoting more exchange programs to strengthen ties.
Huang said he asked Lin Hsin-i (林信義), Taiwan’s APEC representative and a Tainan native, to deliver a congratulatory letter and gift to the Gyeongju City Government. The gesture conveyed Tainan’s pride and best wishes as the city hosted the APEC summit.
Huang added that the summit’s focus on artificial intelligence aligns with Tainan’s industrial development goals, and he looked forward to closer collaboration in smart technology and related fields.
