TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taiwan External Trade Development Council said it will lead 30 Taiwanese companies to the Rebuild Ukraine expo in Warsaw from Nov. 13–14 to present Taiwan’s solutions for Ukraine’s reconstruction.
This year’s event will highlight recovery projects, materials, technology, and investment to help rebuild Ukraine’s economy, with a focus on infrastructure, industry, energy, and housing. According to the council, the country’s reconstruction is estimated to cost about NT$15 trillion (US$460 billion).
The council said Taiwanese companies will also meet with Polish firms, with infrastructure projects covering transportation, urban planning, housing, and communications. Taiwan will showcase innovations in power plants, green energy, storage systems, cabling, and smart energy management, per Nownews.
During the expo, Ukrainian sustainable energy company DTEK Group, the Ukrainian entrepreneur union SUP, and the nation’s drone association Lviv Tech Cluster will hold talks with Taiwanese companies, the council added.
In June, the council hosted an event in Taipei where Ukrainian companies in electronics, ICT, drones, energy, and machinery met with Taiwanese firms. The program also featured forums on Ukraine’s drone and healthcare sector developments.
The council said it established the Taiwan Trade Center in Kyiv in 2006 as a hub for trade and economic exchanges between Taiwan and Ukraine. Since Russia’s invasion in February 2022, the center has helped Taiwanese nationals seek shelter and escorted 55 citizens out of the war zone.
The Center for Strategic and International Studies reports the conflict has killed more than 7,000 civilians and 70,000 soldiers, with over 11,000 civilians and 400,000 soldiers injured. Russian forces have used missiles, drones, and bombers to strike military targets and residential areas, while Ukraine has counterattacked Russian installations and fleets with missiles, naval weapons, and UAVs.
