TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – An EVA Air flight from Tokyo to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport scheduled for Tuesday evening instead took off on Wednesday afternoon due to an abnormal signal.
Flight BR195 was to have taken off from Narita Airport at 8:20 p.m., per UDN. However, while the plane was still on the ground, a business class passenger reported a strong burning smell.
After waiting inside the plane for several hours, passengers were asked to leave. The pilot initially said that a warning light had signaled an abnormality, while he later reported a problem with a cooling fan system.
The airline asked passengers to spend one night in Tokyo, offering them lodging and transportation. For safety reasons, a technical crew first repaired the problem, EVA said.
The flight was rescheduled to leave Tokyo for Taoyuan at 2 p.m. Wednesday, the airline said, apologizing to travelers for the inconvenience.
