TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Legislator Hsu Chih-chieh (許智傑) confirmed Thursday that water at Kaohsiung’s Fengshan and Agongdian Reservoirs is safe despite public concerns over solar installations.
Reports of surfactant residues at Wushantou Reservoir were traced to upstream domestic water discharge, not the solar panels, per Liberty Times. Inspections by the Water Resources Agency and other departments showed compliance with regulations and proper project management, per CNA.
Taipower and the Water Resources Agency confirmed that floating solar panels are cleaned without chemical agents. Fengshan Reservoir uses clean water, while Agongdian draws from the reservoir itself, with all tests within safe limits.
Water quality data is publicly accessible through the agency’s reservoir water quality portal. Hsu emphasized transparency to ensure public trust in reservoir management.
He also called on the agency to conduct regular water quality testing. Proactive measures, Hsu said, would prevent misunderstandings and maintain public confidence.
