TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s delegation will emphasize innovation, a willingness to share achievements, and artificial intelligence at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders’ summit in South Korea, President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) said Tuesday.
He presented the delegation, headed by former Vice Premier Lin Hsin-i (林信義), at a news conference at the Presidential Office. The former business executive previously represented Taiwan’s president at APEC summits in 2005 and 2024.
At the Oct. 31–Nov. 1 meeting in Gyeongju, he will say Taiwan has strengthened its economic resilience and is ready to cooperate with other countries, the president said. Lai added that Taiwan’s policies of freedom, fairness, and rule of law provide a stable, reliable environment for investment, per CNA.
Taiwan is transitioning from a manufacturing center to a hub of innovation, Lai said. He added that Taiwan would be happy to share experience in advanced sectors, including semiconductors, so regional economies can complement one another.
Lai also said Taiwan’s development of human-centered AI aligns with APEC’s priorities. Lin’s delegation will also highlight Taiwan’s contributions to smart health at the summit, according to the president.
