TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A 33-year-old man was arrested in New Taipei City’s Tamsui District after allegedly evading police for six years by disguising himself as a woman, authorities said Friday.
The man, surnamed Yang (楊), was wanted on charges of fraud and public endangerment, per UDN. He was said to have worked in restaurants and karaoke bars in the Greater Taipei area while on the run.
The arrest came after Yang failed to pay a taxi fare of more than NT$700 (US$23) in Tamsui at around 6 a.m. He was described as intoxicated.
When questioned and asked to provide identification he reportedly attempted to deceive the police by providing his “boyfriend’s” ID instead. Police added that Yang wore a bra stuffed with tissue paper and had feminine mannerisms.
Fingerprint comparisons confirmed his identity and he was taken into custody. The case is under investigation.
