TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Japan’s top high school marching bands, the “Orange Devils” and the “Emerald Knights,” will visit Taiwan in December for their first joint performances.
Kyoto Tachibana Senior High School and Tokyo University of Agriculture Second High School will perform together in Taiwan, per CNA. The tour will include Taipei, Chiayi, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung, facilitated by the General Association of Chinese Culture (GACC).
The two schools, with more than 250 members, will hold a series of events in Taiwan. Other organizers include E.SUN Bank and the E.SUN Cultural and Educational Foundation
GACC Secretary-General Lee Hou-ching (李厚慶) said both high schools rank among Japan’s top marching bands and represent regional champions from Kansai and Kanto. They performed in Taiwan during National Day celebrations in 2022 and 2023, impressing local audiences.
During their visit, the bands will stage three ticketed shows and exchange activities. Events include a joint performance on Dec. 19 at Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium, a solo show by the Orange Devils on Dec. 21 at Kaohsiung Weiwuying Music Hall, and a solo show by the Emerald Knights on Dec. 21 at Chiayi City Cultural Center Music Hall.
The bands will also travel around Taiwan to meet student groups, including Juang Jing Vocational High School, Kaohsiung Girls’ Senior High School, National Pingtung Girls’ Senior High School, Nan Rong Junior High School, and Meiho University.
