TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A feature film inspired by Taiwan’s dramatic Premier12 baseball championship, “Team Fantastic,” held a press conference on Monday at Taipei Dome to mark the start of shooting, per UDN.
Taiwan Professional Baseball League Commissioner Tsai Chi-chang (蔡其昌) attended and presented commemorative jerseys to cast members, including veteran actor Wang Shih-hsien (王識賢), who will portray team manager Tseng Hao-jiu (曾豪駒).
ADATA Chair Chen Li-bai (陳立白), a key sponsor, said returning to the stadium brought back powerful memories of a moment that “united the nation through an unforgettable achievement.” He said he was moved by the screenplay and proud to help bring the story to the big screen, with support from partners across Taiwan’s business community and production company GRX Studio.
Co-director Wang Wei-ming (王維明) said he vividly remembered the moment Taiwan captured the Premier12 title. “The first phone call I received that night was from Chen, who said this victory must become a movie,” Wang recalled. “At that moment, I felt not only the passion of baseball fans but the collective pride of the Taiwanese people. Making this film is both an honor and a heartfelt responsibility.”
Fellow co-director Raymond Jiang (姜瑞智) said the project’s development, from writing to casting, has been long and challenging, but filled with industry support. Standing on the field at Taipei Dome, he said, “It feels like a dream come true.” He hopes audiences will relive the pride and passion associated with the victory, Jiang said.
“Team Fantastic” is scheduled for release in the summer of 2026.
