TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan is positioning itself as a partner for India’s growing drone market as global supply chains shift away from China.
Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in Delhi President Ho Chun-hsin (何俊炘) said Taiwan can meet India’s needs across civilian and military sectors, per Liberty Times. He noted that drones are a key factor.
India’s drone industry is projected to grow from NT$14.3 billion (US$470 million) this year to NT$42.5 billion in 2030, a compound annual growth rate of 24.4%, with drone units expected to double from 8,381 to 16,756 over the same period, according to Indian research firm MarketsandMarkets.
Ho explained that defense and infrastructure are driving demand, while US-China tensions and a broader de‑Chinaization trend are pushing India to seek trustworthy suppliers.
He cited Taisys Technologies as an example. The company has entered India’s military tender market and is expanding in the civilian sector.
Since India restricts imports of complete drones to prevent Chinese products from entering their market, Taiwanese firms are focusing on downstream components. Ho said Taiwan’s government supports developing AI vision systems, allowing its companies to access India’s military sector.
iCatch Technology specializes in such AI visual systems. Its technology has been integrated into Taisys drones and was recently showcased in New Delhi at a Taiwan exhibition organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council.
