TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Thunder Tigers aerobatic team performed a flyover of the Presidential Office and landmarks including Taipei 101 on Monday ahead of Taiwan’s National Day celebration.
The rehearsal took place Monday afternoon in front of the Presidential Office Building, per the Military News Agency. The event featured the Tri-Service Honor Guard and military bands, the Military Police Rapid Response Company, the Marine Corps Band, a flag-carrying helicopter team, and the Air Force Thunder Tigers.
The celebration program is divided into three segments: the opening performance, the National Day ceremony, and the themed performance. The opening act was presented by the Taiwan Taiko Association, followed by the Tri-Service Honor Guard’s precision rifle drill.
Students from Shin Min High School’s performing arts department, Nan Jung Junior High School’s marching band, and Juang Jing Vocational High School’s performing arts department then took the stage.
During the National Day ceremony, the national anthem was led by the Dacun Elementary School choir, joined by award-winning new immigrant representatives and public service contribution awardees. The national day tribute featured a collaboration between the Dacun Elementary Choir and the Tang Baobao Ensemble.
The finale featured the Rapid Response Company and eight mounted officers from the New Taipei City Police Department leading a parade of athletes who represented Taiwan at the Universiade and the Chengdu World Games. They were followed by performances from Meiho University’s honor guard, the Marine Corps Band, the Hakka Affairs Council, the Pingtung Indigenous Youth Association, and the Naruwan Performing Arts Troupe.
The rehearsal concluded with the Thunder Tigers flying in a five-jet “wild goose” formation over the Presidential Office, releasing red, white, and blue smoke.
