TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — An exhibition marking the 60th Golden Bell Awards invites visitors into six decades of Taiwanese television and radio at Taipei’s Huashan 1914 Creative Park.
The Golden Bell Awards, Taiwan’s annual celebration of excellence in television and radio, honors the programs and people who have shaped the nation’s media landscape, per CNA. Running through Oct. 19, the exhibition highlights iconic shows, key milestones, and the creative forces behind them, according to a Ministry of Culture press release.
This year’s awards theme, “The Next Second, The Future,” frames reflection as a launchpad for continued creativity and achievement. The exhibition is organized into four thematic areas.
The first explores the beginnings and breakthroughs of Taiwanese broadcasting, featuring artifacts such as “Pei Mei’s Chinese Cook Book,” a historic radio special, and past Golden Bell trophies.
The second revisits the era of nationwide fandom, displaying original props from “Justice Pao,” a replica set from “Nights of the Rose,” mascot figures from “Fruity Ice Cream,” and clips from “Taiwan Tornado,” underscoring how TV and radio built shared cultural memories.
The third lets visitors experience the thrill of winning, with replica Golden Bell trophies for photos, a mask from “Copycat Killer,” and videos of cross-generational conversations with industry figures.
The fourth honors production teams with recreated variety-show sets and shipbuilding footage from “Lord Jiaqing and The Journey to Taiwan,” spotlighting the often-unsung contributors behind Taiwan’s media productions.
Complementing the exhibition, a light projection show on the Presidential Office Building runs Tuesday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with displays every half hour.
Minister of Culture Li Yuan (李遠) praised television and radio for fostering shared memories and social cohesion, from morning traffic reports to prime-time dramas. He said he is confident the 60th Golden Bell Awards will continue to nurture collective memory and cultural continuity.
