TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology has partnered with National Tsing Hua University to collaborate on advanced defense technologies.
NCSIST President Li Shih-chiang (李世強) and NTHU President Kao Way-yuan (高為元) signed an agreement to promote innovation in advanced materials, smart manufacturing, human–machine collaboration, battery technology, and other areas, according to the Military News Agency.
The partners aim to develop next-generation core defense technologies and improve weapon-system adaptability and manufacturing precision.
NCSIST said the strategic industry–academia alliance focuses on two areas: research and talent cultivation. Through faculty and student exchanges and technical cooperation, the initiative seeks to integrate theory with practice and train interdisciplinary talent, injecting new momentum into Taiwan’s defense sector while maintaining resilience and competitiveness.
By combining NTHU’s research strengths in quantum technology, advanced semiconductors, materials science, and AI with NCSIST’s defense expertise, the partnership is expected to enhance Taiwan’s R&D capabilities and build a stronger technological foundation for national defense.
