TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Kinmen Defense Command conducted its Taiwu live-fire exercise on Lieyu Island on Tuesday night.
The exercise simulated enemy amphibious landings, CNA reported. M-41D tanks fired from shifting positions, while CM-21 armored vehicles transported infantry to designated shooting positions. An air-defense unit engaged low-altitude targets to maintain airspace security.
The Kinmen Defense Command said that troops believe better preparation means greater safety. The command said it is bolstering combat readiness and instilling a warrior mentality among the soldiers.
The command added that local officials and community leaders were invited to observe the exercise, which helps strengthen public resilience.
