TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Chengchi University President Lee Tsai-yan (李蔡彥) visited Paris earlier this month to deepen the school’s European partnerships.
Lee visited four universities: Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po), Paris Dauphine–PSL, School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS), and Universite de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (UVSQ).
At Sciences Po, Lee said both universities could expand cooperation in business, law, communications, education, and AI through short-term courses and joint research, according to NCCU. Sciences Po plans to launch a climate school next year, aligning with NCCU’s strengths in sustainability and governance.
Lee signed an agreement with Paris Dauphine–PSL to renew student exchanges. For the first time, the MOU includes social sciences, broadening opportunities for students.
At EHESS, Lee proposed cooperation through Taiwan–France research initiatives, joint conferences, and co-supervised PhD programs. EHESS expressed interest in hosting PhD summer workshops in Taiwan and is exploring an agreement to facilitate master’s and doctoral exchanges in fields beyond Taiwan studies, such as Russian and Middle Eastern studies.
While visiting UVSQ, Lee signed an international student exchange agreement, creating an institutional framework for long-term cooperation. The agreement aims to attract more French students to Taiwan and encourage Taiwanese students to study in France.
NCCU said it is expanding its footprint in European higher education, building long-term partnerships in research, talent cultivation, and sustainability.
