TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Kaohsiung City has announced school and work closures for five districts.
As Typhoon Ragasa approaches Taiwan, the following Kaohsiung districts have canceled school and work for Tuesday: Liouguei District, Jiasian District, Namasia District, Maolin District, and Taoyuan District.
Twelve townships in Pingtung County have announced school and office closures for Tuesday: Hengchun Township, Checheng Township, Manzhou Township, Fangshan Township, Sandimen Township, Wutai Township, Majia Township, Taiwu Township, Laiyi Township, Chunri Township, Shizi Township, and Mudan Township.
Tainan City and Kinmen County have said all schools and work will continue as normal on Tuesday, while Taitung and Hualien Counties have announced complete closures.

Central Weather Administration forecaster Wu Wan-hua (伍婉華) said the typhoon could intensify and is expected to have the greatest impact over the next two days. The typhoon will gradually move away by Wednesday, but heavy rain could continue in eastern Taiwan.
