TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) returned to Taiwan after concluding a European tour that began on Sept. 11.
Lin visited the Czech Republic, Italy, and Austria. In the Czech Republic, he attended the opening of a special exhibition at Prague Castle and watched Taiwan’s national orchestra perform the musical “Formosa Roadside Wedding Banquet,” according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He traveled to Brno, the country’s second-largest city, to inspect the jointly built Advanced Chip Design and Research Center. He also visited Inventec and Wistron’s local plants to learn about their opportunities and challenges.
In Italy, Lin joined a reception for the renovation of Taiwan’s representative office in Rome, where he interacted with Italian political leaders. The foreign minister said Taiwan–Italy relations are built on shared values, with close cultural and economic exchanges.
He also stopped at Taiwan’s embassy in the Vatican, encouraging staff to continue strengthening Taiwan–Vatican friendship.
In Austria, he toured the parliament and held discussions with Federal Council Vice President Gunther Ruprecht, Austria–Taiwan Friendship Group Chair Werner Amon, and other Austrian politicians, business leaders, and cultural figures. He said Taiwan and Austria cooperate closely in ICT and machinery and hoped for stronger parliamentary exchanges and government cooperation.
The ministry said it would continue promoting comprehensive diplomacy with like-minded European partners to bolster democratic resilience.
