TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A delegation of French senators arrived in Taiwan on Sunday.
Led by Rachid Temal, vice chair of the France-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group, the six lawmakers will stay until Sept. 19 and are expected to meet Cabinet and Legislative Yuan officials, according to a press release.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the delegation, noting this is the third visit organized by the friendship group in recent years and saying the trip demonstrates France’s steadfast friendship with Taiwan.
In addition to Temal, the group includes Senators Jean-Michel Arnaud, Francois Bonneau, Bernard Buis, Yannick Jadot, and Mireille Jouve.
During their stay, the lawmakers will meet Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) to discuss bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern. The delegation will also meet Legislative Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜).
The itinerary includes visits to MOFA, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ministry of Environment, as well as meetings with representatives of Taiwan’s major political parties.
