TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Traveling between Taipei and Taichung will become more convenient as Taiwan Railway Corp. adds four daily EMU3000 express trains starting Oct. 1.
The move aims to boost connectivity along the Taipei–Taichung corridor. Trains No. 127, 148, 193, and 194 will operate between Qidu in Keelung and Changhua through Dec. 31, according to Taiwan Railway.
All four trains will stop at Qidu, Nangang, Songshan, Taipei, Banqiao, Fengyuan, Taichung, and Changhua.
A trip from Taipei to Taichung takes about two hours, with a fare of NT$500 (US$16). By comparison, Taiwan High Speed Rail covers Taipei to Taichung in roughly one hour for NT$700.
Reservations via Taiwan Railway's website, mobile app, convenience store kiosks, and telephone will open at 12 a.m. on Tuesday.
