TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Since Emirates increased to 14 weekly Taipei-Dubai direct flights, travelers can connect to more global destinations, Nasser Bahlooq, general manager of Emirates Airlines Taiwan, said on Wednesday.
Within Europe, travelers can fly to 42 European cities, including Lisbon, Rome, and London, from Dubai, Bahlooq said. There is a significant number of travelers flying to Cairo, North America, and South America.
Bahlooq said the launch of Etihad Airways’ Taipei–Abu Dhabi route on Sunday strengthens Taiwan’s connection with the Middle East and signifies its status as a rapidly growing market.
Bahlooq said Emirates’ focus will be on improving service, rather than expanding flights.
In terms of cargo, Emirates provides 450 tons of weekly capacity, the general manager said. The airline handles key Taiwan exports, including computer equipment, medical devices, and auto parts.
