TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taoyuan Airport MRT experienced a brief power supply abnormality on Wednesday that temporarily halted service.
Taoyuan Metro Corporation said that at 11:23 a.m., a fault occurred in the third-rail power supply system, triggering a safety mechanism that cut off electricity, per CNA. The operations control center immediately isolated the fault and rerouted power, and by 11:26 a.m. full service had resumed.
The disruption lasted only three minutes but delayed 19 trains and affected about 2,000 passengers, TMC said. The company added that operations have since returned to normal and service intervals are being adjusted.
It apologized for the inconvenience and said the cause of the fault would be reviewed after service ended for the day. Passengers needing delay certificates can obtain them via the Taipei Metro website or at service counters at all Airport MRT stations except Xingnan Station, which is unstaffed.
