TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foxconn said renewable energy made up more than two-thirds of its power use last year, surpassing its 2030 target.
The company’s 2024 sustainability report showed green power accounted for 67.38% of its electricity in 2024, well above the goal of 50% by the end of the decade, per CNA. Foxconn reaffirmed plans to run all global sites on 100% renewables by 2040 and to achieve net zero emissions across its value chain by 2050.
Foxconn said it is expanding procurement through long-term agreements while also generating its own energy. Last year, the group bought 1,396.82 GWh of renewable electricity and obtained another 4,996.35 GWh through trading backed by green certificates.
Installed renewable generation capacity reached 332.90 MW in 2024, a 2.17% increase from 2023. Overall consumption of green power stood at 6,728.96 GWh, equal to 41.81% of total electricity use across its operations.
The company said rooftop solar projects remain the backbone of its self-supply strategy, with major installations underway at hubs in China, India, and Vietnam. These include both rooftop and ground-mounted systems built through construction and acquisitions.
Foxconn also highlighted supplier action on emissions. Last year, 200 suppliers completed carbon inventories, reducing 1.02 million metric tons of CO2e, while 36 pledged renewable commitments totaling about 169 million kWh.
The company said it aims to have 54 suppliers running on 100% renewable power by the end of 2025, more than 150 by 2030, and over 300 by 2050.
