TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan and Indonesia’s agriculture ministries recently concluded the 5th Taiwan-Indonesia Agricultural Cooperation Consultation Meeting in Taipei.
The talks covered agricultural policy, market access, and broader cooperation, according to Taiwan’s agriculture ministry. Both sides focused in particular on food security challenges posed by climate change.
They agreed to strengthen agricultural resilience through technological cooperation and talent development to ensure stable food supplies. Preliminary agreements were also reached on market access for agricultural products and expanding trade cooperation.
From Aug. 29–30, the Indonesian agricultural delegation visited food industry operations in Changhua and Yilan and met with young Indonesian farmers interning in Taiwan.
The agriculture ministry said Indonesia is a key partner under Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy. Since the signing of the Taiwan-Indonesia Agricultural Cooperation Agreement in 2016, the two countries have promoted agricultural technology collaboration, talent exchanges, and industry cooperation.
The ministry added that the results of the latest meeting are expected to provide a solid foundation for future Taiwan-Indonesia agricultural ties.
