TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — TSMC’s 2024 Sustainability Report showed that average salary and benefits for employees reached NT$3.57 million (US$116,000), a 44.5% increase from 2020.
From 2020 to 2024, the company’s total annual payroll grew from about NT$140.8 billion to NT$301.8 billion, reflecting salary hikes and expanded staff numbers, per CNA. Compensation includes base pay, allowances, cash bonuses, and other remuneration.
In 2023, 84% of employees surveyed said they felt fairly compensated, the report noted. New master’s graduate engineers at Taiwan fabs and at TSMC’s Yuxu acquisition earned more than NT$2 million on average, while direct production staff made over NT$1 million annually.
Monthly pay for production staff exceeds four times Taiwan’s minimum wage and surpasses the estimated living wage. The company also approved NT$140.6 billion in cash bonuses and remuneration for Taiwan operations in 2024, following pre-set salary plans.
Taiwan fabs saw growth not only in staff numbers but also in average and median salaries compared with the previous year, reflecting TSMC’s continued investment in human capital.
Additionally, the report said TSMC generated NT$2.45 trillion in output value and created 358,000 job opportunities in Taiwan last year.
