TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The National Science and Technology Council said Friday that its incubator Taiwan Tech Arena has jump-started 1,069 startups since 2018, generating nearly NT$40 billion (US$1.3 billion) in investment and producing 13 listed companies.
Lin Te-sheng (林德生), director general of the Department of Academia-Industry Collaboration and Science Park Affairs, said the startups included 407 in software and internet, 271 in biotech, 153 in AI Internet of Things, 34 in green energy, 27 in semiconductors, and 177 in other fields, per CNA.
Lin highlighted iStaging, a startup that broke into Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy Group’s supply chain through the Consumer Electronics Show and VivaTech. Originally focused on real estate services, it pivoted into luxury retail, partnering with Innolux on hardware-software integration and securing NT$500 million in orders.
NSTC Deputy Minister Su Chen-kang (蘇振綱) linked the initiative to President Lai Ching-te’s (賴清德) National Project of Hope, which emphasizes startup support. He said the aim is to foster an ecosystem that drives digital transformation.
Startup-enterprise matchmaking has been a top priority this year, the council said. Ten collaborations were formed in smart systems, including one between MSI and Avilon Intelligence to co-develop unmanned warehouse vehicles.
Looking ahead, officials said the incubator will deepen collaboration in drones and AI robotics, keeping Taiwan at the forefront of global innovation.
