TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — American Institute in Taiwan Director Raymond Greene met Taiwan People’s Party Chair Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌) on Tuesday to discuss bilateral cooperation.
The meeting followed Greene’s talks with Defense Minister Wellington Koo (顧立雄) on Aug. 20 and with Kuomintang legislators on Monday. On Facebook, Greene said the US is committed to working with leaders across Taiwan’s political spectrum to strengthen its “rock-solid partnership” with the country.
Greene and Huang discussed cooperation on defense, the economy, and whole-of-society resilience, according to the envoy. Defense also featured prominently in Greene’s exchanges with both the KMT delegation and Koo.
Greene said he told the defense minister about continued US commitments to bolster Taiwan’s defense capabilities. Their talks also covered traditional and asymmetric military deterrence as well as societal resilience.
