TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Railways Corporation has signed an agreement with JR Kyushu Railway Company to collaborate on safety, operational technology, and other areas.
TRC Chair Cheng Kuang-yuan (鄭光遠) signed a memorandum of understanding with JR Kyushu President Furumiya Yoji on Aug. 19.
Transportation Minister Chen Shi-kai (陳世凱) said JR Kyushu’s achievements in business diversification and train tourism branding provide valuable insights for TRC’s ongoing transformation.
Both sides will focus on adopting advanced technologies to improve safety and service quality, expanding asset development, and strengthening railway tourism.
Chen added that Taiwan and Japan have long maintained close exchanges in transportation, particularly in railway technology and operations management, where mutual trust has been strong.
