TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s airlines have announced benefits for active-duty servicemembers to mark Armed Forces Day on Sept. 3.
China Airlines said that active-duty personnel flying regional international routes departing from Taiwan will receive priority check-in by presenting their military ID at the boarding gate and free standby upgrades to business class, CNA reported.
The airline has also extended priority check-in to one accompanying passenger who presents a dependent’s ID.
EVA Air said that active-duty personnel flying international routes departing from Taoyuan, Songshan, or Kaohsiung on EVA Air or UNI Air can upgrade to business class. Service members must present a valid military ID at the EVA Air general service counter for verification and registration.
It added that priority boarding for active-duty personnel will be extended to one accompanying dependent with a military family ID.
EVA Air said the upgrade program applies only to two-class-service flights within Asia departing from Taoyuan, Songshan, or Kaohsiung airports. However, some flights — including to Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City, and Shanghai — are excluded.
Starlux Airlines also announced that active-duty personnel flying two-class-service flights departing from Taiwan will be eligible for standby upgrades to business class upon presenting their military ID at check-in.
