TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration forecast that temperatures in western Taiwan will exceed 36 C on Monday, CNA reported.
Temperatures in the north will range from 26 C to 38 C, while central and southern regions will be 25 C to 36 C. In the east, temperatures are expected to be slightly lower, ranging from 25 C to 33 C. The UV index will remain high nationwide.
The administration reported that hail fell in parts of Tainan on Sunday afternoon. Brief, intense thunderstorms are also likely in western Taiwan on Monday afternoon, with some areas possibly experiencing hail.
From Tuesday to Thursday, skies across Taiwan will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with the central region and south possibly experiencing afternoon thunderstorms or heavy rain, per Yahoo News. Temperatures across the nation are forecast to range between 25 C and 36 C.
From Friday through the weekend, brief showers or afternoon thunderstorms are expected nationwide, with temperatures ranging from 25 C to 35 C.
Typhoon Kajiki, currently located near the waters off China's Hainan Island, poses no direct impact on Taiwan. The agency added that the storm is expected to make landfall in Vietnam on Monday afternoon.
