TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment celebrated its second anniversary on Friday by presenting medals to 15 individuals recognized as environmental heroes.
Minister of Environment Peng Chi-ming (彭啓明) said the ministry’s greatest achievement over the past two years was seeing the results of grassroots workers and environmental partners’ dedication, according to the ministry. “Many people across professions are environmental ministers in their own right. Environmental work knows no age or occupation — every effort is a force for change,” Peng said.
Peng pledged to strengthen policies with new tools, technologies, and integrated resources, positioning the ministry as a reliable partner for all engaged in environmental protection.
Among the recipients were Chen Chih-hsien (陳志賢), deputy plant director of Asia Cement, and Chuang Chu-fang (莊居芳), executive director of the Changhua County Environmental Protection Alliance. Chen was recognized for pioneering low-carbon products and green technologies, particularly in cement innovation, while Chuang was praised for her dedication to volunteer work and community-based environmental education.
