TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) arrived in Taiwan on Friday to visit TSMC and discuss Nvidia’s latest products.
Huang said his visit will focus on Nvidia’s new technologies, including virtual reality chips and Spectrum-X photonics switches, per CNA. The company’s latest chip, Vera Rubin, is reportedly already in trial production, according to UDN.
He also addressed questions about the H20 chips sold to China, expressing gratitude to the Trump administration for allowing Nvidia to resume shipments.
In response to concerns from the Chinese government about potential backdoors in Nvidia’s chips, Huang said the company has never built backdoors into its products. He added that Nvidia is willing to continue discussions with the Chinese government to resolve their concerns.
Regarding the new semiconductor-related tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, Huang said that while he did not offer policy suggestions, he briefed Trump on the importance of building up the US AI industry. He noted that as AI development is advancing globally, it is vital for the US to maximize AI-related exports to maintain its leadership.
