TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan will launch 10 major AI infrastructure projects, Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) announced Wednesday.
Starting next year, government ministries will implement the projects in stages, Cho said, per CNA. Funding and details for the first year will be released with the central government’s budget, he added.
Cho said the plan rests on three pillars: smart applications, infrastructure foundations, and key technologies, including silicon photonics, quantum computing, and robotics. It also emphasizes developing sovereign AI, strengthening computing power, and cultivating AI talent.
Taiwan will invest hundreds of billions of NT$ in advanced technologies to create a “smart living circle for all citizens” and transform daily life, Cho said.
The announcement follows the establishment of the Transportation AI Promotion Committee earlier this month, which aims to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence into Taiwan’s transportation systems.
