TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — New Taipei City will host a job fair on Tuesday at city hall’s sixth-floor auditorium, connecting job seekers with opportunities in consumer-focused industries ahead of the back-to-school season.
The event will feature about 2,800 job openings, with more than 60% concentrated in retail, wholesale, hospitality, and food and beverage sectors, according to CNA. Positions include both full-time and part-time roles.
Openings range from engineers, assistant technicians, and operators to management trainees, sales staff, warehouse personnel, store clerks, chefs, security guards, and cleaners.
Labor Department head Chen Jui-chia (陳瑞嘉) said the fair is designed to meet seasonal demand in the summer months leading into the September school year. Many companies are actively hiring new staff and offering short-term positions to meet market needs.
Retail and wholesale sectors account for the largest share, with 34% of positions in retail chains and 32% in hospitality and food services. Participating companies include FamilyMart, 7-Eleven, Lakaffa International, Humax Asia, and Wowprime, each offering more than 100 vacancies.
The fair will also provide support services for applicants, including simplified resume templates, guidance on preparing resumes and cover letters, and free resume printing. For those seeking flexible work, more than 600 part-time positions will be available.
